April Fools? Not.

For a minute I thought Vogue Patterns was doing a joke  on us and then I realized – it was no joke; they’re serious!  Who in their right mind would wear this?????    It’s the perfect graduation ensemble for Clown College.

P.S.    I’m not kidding, the model could be Mrs.  Bello Knock

  • LOL I have NO idea!!!!

  • Looks like some MC Hammer/80′s thing! Atrocious even for then!!

I guess you didn’t get the memo last summer about the new low-crotch pants. Clearly, Vogue did – which is another reason any of the overseas Vogues are far superior to the Anna Wintour Vogue.

  • Just what is the deal with those pants? I’m 61 years old, and I’ve seen a lot of patterns in my lifetime. Some bizaare. None any more ridiculous than this.

  • Wow…I had a totally different reaction to that pattern. I totally blanked on the pants and looked at all the amazing features of the jacket. It reminds me of the BWOF trench that Lauralo made last year. There were quite a few edgy designer pieces in this series…

  • Very strange! The only thing I like about it is the tie in the back. The weird knee thing has to go!

  • That was my immediate reaction too. You can be sure I won’t be making this up for my Easter outfit. Like Carolyn, I did like the lines of the jacket, but the pants were such a turn-off I can’t see myself getting the pattern just for it.

  • The entire “What’s New” line looks like they have no idea of where they’ve been, or where they’re going.

  • I couldn’t believe it either. And the models don’t look to happy to be wearing those clothes either!

  • This was precicely what I thought, when I saw that. I’m glad to know I’m not the only one…

  • I agree about the clown outfit aspect, but like Carolyn I immediately discounted the pants and started looking at the jacket which is pretty cool. I can’t think of when I last bought a pattern for more than one of the pieces shown.

  • But I ADORE the jacket! The pants, well, yes, the pants are insane. But the jacket reminds me of a Poiret lampshade-y coat and I can’t wait to try ir!

  • The jacket is interesting, but way to long for me. The pants, strange, and together even weirder. I guess that I am just too old to appreciate this? Are there any young, ie women in their 20′s who thinks that this is fashionable and interesting?
Kathy Horyn of the Times, wrote that fashion is for the young.

OK….I nearly wet myself laughing at your description of Professor Art to Wear. I just bought the Women’s Vogue pattern for the big baggy pants. I love baggy pants for summer and am rather….ah robust…in my size, wear big, bold jewelry and work in an academic setting. You nailed me!! So, was it my imagination or did you mean this in a not all together showing admiration and praise for my fashion sense?
    Love your blog!!

  • Every time I see those pants I flash on the Oompa-Loompas from Charlie & the Chocolate Factory. :P
