I should go over to Jo-Ann’s tomorrow to see if McCall’s actually had the stones to print this onto pattern tissue.

  • Guess McCall’s did indeed. Some sewists are “lost” w/o a specific pattern.

  • I won’t name names but someone actually posted a tutorial for Snuggies for dogs and Barbie dolls. I wish these things would just go away.

  • I think I just threw up a little bit in my mouth…

Oh well… that meets about the level of sophistication Burda shows from time to time in their issues…

(But it seems there are people out there who actually buy such things… that’s really weird…)

Well the Snuggie itself is fine – the fact that its a pattern is what amuses me. The tech drawing pretty much explains it all; who on earth would need a pattern??

You must be kidding. I’m pretty sure you didn’t go to the trouble of photoshopping that, so I’ll take your word for it that it does exist. Sigh.

Oh nooooooooo! I have that leopard-print fleece waiting to be made into a coat. For real. Gulp. LOL.

  • I have been on more than one forum where there were many interested in a pattern for this. Oy,,,,,,

  • I guess that they did – although couldn’t you just lie down on the fabric and trace around a person with the same results? LOL

  • A Snuggie at WalMart, is a Ruana at Lord and Taylor, LOL !

    …and remember, some people need a pattern and 50 how-to photographs to make a pillowcase :) ))

Having seen a real-live snuggie (no – I don’t have one) and seen a totorial or 2 of how to make one, I’d agree that this seems a bit much. I hope this is intended for the same people that need detailed instructions to make the fleece blankets that are just tied around the edges.

  • Yuk. what a waste of money

  • I guess I’m one of the unwashed masses, then, because I did buy this pattern to make a Christmas gift for a relative – granted, only during the 99c pattern sale and I would have been reluctant to spend more than that for it. It’s got remarkably detailed instructions, including mitered hems and a foot pocket on the interior side of the blanket that you can’t see on the line drawing. I don’t have a ‘real’ snuggie myself but I’ve been told by those who do that the pattern version is nicer. I knew I could have drafted (if that’s even the word) it myself, but why would I bother, when McCalls and JoAnn’s will give it to me for a buck?

  • Laura gives the all another take.

I haven’t seen the pattern, let alone looked at what’s inside this one. I guessed, based on the tutorials I’ve seen, that it would be about the same. And if you got it for 99 cents, as a time saver, you may have come out ahead. Thanks for giving another viewpoint.

  • That’s how I’ve always felt about their patterns for cafe curtains!

Another scenario you might not have considered: you want to make a personalized Snuggie for an unexpected night on the town, but you’re short on time. No time to draft your own! From the FASHION section of the Globe:
