Shirtmaking: Simplicity 2339, Version 2

I did not make a lined yoke but used some twill tape to cover the inside seam

Details of the placket and cuffs

Placket on a 45 degree angle and the buttons

There is a center back seam on the collar to make the front collar points symmetrical, had to do this with the even-uneven nature of the stripe

Here is version 2 of Simplicity 2339, also made from Mood shirt fabric, a very pretty periwinkle-green-raspberry stripe with an even-uneven pattern.   I don’t know what this fabric is called but its that classic light but crisp shirt fabric used in high end RTW shirts. The inner collar stand is a remnant of cotton lawn left over from baby clothes and I was just plain lucky that it coordinated so well with the stripe.   The details are mostly in the photos, see the captions for details!  The buttons come from Pam at Fashion Sewing Supply, she sells these by the scoop and the colors are really wonderful (and there are a shirts-worth of each color too)  I also used her Pro-Sheer Elegance fusible interfacing.

Another very nice shirt! S2339 is my current fave too, I just cut out #3 but I sew so slowly that you’ll be wearing shirt #8 by the time I finish #3. I love how you changed to green for the buttonholes, nice touch.

Blouse or shirt, call it what you will, the end result is one very attractive piece of fashion. All your planning choices came together very well. Center back collar!! Under collar, inside cuff contrast!!. Cuff stipes!! 45 degree angled placket!! Stripe alignment of placket!! Buttons!! Having just the right color scheme scraps!! For certain you’ll do it justice in the wearing. Your brother nailed it, you are a pro!

You are making me want to ditch my recent pants-sewing binge and move on to shirts. I love this one.

I’m pretty sure Mood still has this fabric, it’s not on their web site but they had a whole roll of it when I was there in July. I’m sure a call to the store with followed up with an email would help someone get hold of it. (feel free to copy my photos)

You’re inspiring me. I am going to sign up for this year’s SWAP and focus on coordinates and shirts.
