What’s Wrong With This Picture?

Today was a a beautfiul fall day in Boston!  Clear, crisp weather, blue skies, the temps were in the high 60′s – by far this is my favorite time of year because I can wear my favorite clothes.  Today it was time to break out one of my favorite wool skirts and team it up with a nice turtleneck, kicky boots, a demin jacket, nice leather gloves and I’m all set for work.

As I got off the train at South Station I noticed that most people appeared to agree with me today, because everyone seemed to be wearing their new fall clothes, and for once I was surrounded by good  fashion.  Life was good.   I strode confidently through South Station, marched downstairs to the subway, and nothing could darken my mood – not even the condescending look a woman gave me as I stood next to her on the platform.

“Whatever biotch, those ratty paisley cords are not exactly happening either” I said to myself, so pleased was I in my fashion superiority.  And then I glanced down at my feet and saw this.

Fortunately I had an extra pair of brown shoes at work.  I really need to get John to install those lights in my closets!

  • My DH did finally install battery operated push on and off lights in the closet, as it is dark as all get out in there, especially as the mornings get darker. Highly recommend! Just don’t forget to turn off, or lo and behold, no light next time. (ask me how I know…)

  • LOL! I’ve done this before, too! Since my feet are hard to fit, I tend to purchase shoes that fit in more than one color in that style…and have more than once arrived at church only to find that I had one black shoe and one blue shoe of the same style on. No back ups, either…it’s just grin and bear it…

  • Oh my! That was funny! I’m glad you didn’t have to go back home! Once I put a sweater on inside out and only noticed it at luch hour!!

  • Summerset

LOL. Join the club, I have the exact same pair of shoes in black and brown and I’ve done that. Thankfully it was to a friend’s house and they don’t wear shoes in the house!

  • Ha!. I have done that too. I only noticed when I whet for a toilet break and sitting down I happened to look down. I don’t think I have ever laughed so much. And the thing was they were different heights and I had not noticed!!

  • OMG, Phyllis, I did this just the other day with sandals – and I do have a light in my closet!

You could pretend it was on purpose. LOL Thanks for sharing.

  • Miss Janey nearly left for work wearing her slippers this morning. Got out to her porch before realizing. Good to know she is not alone.

I LOVE that. I would like to hope that I’d stick with the mis-match as a “whatever-I-do-what-I-want” type of STATEMENT, but I doubt I’d have the guts. I think it looked great.

  • LOL, that’s the best chuckle I’ve had in days! How cool of you to share it with us!

    It’s a gorgeous skirt, BTW.

  • We lost the light in our closet (electrical problem) for about a week, and I was literally finding my shoes by feel. Fortunately, my shoes are all different enough that I would be able to tell by feel. But I also have a full length mirror on the back of my bedroom door that I check before I go out.

  • Love your story and hilarious way of telling it. I was looking at family photos of about 10 years ago recently, and discovered that I had on a mismatched pair of ear rings for a major family event. Never knew it, no one said anything..but very obvious in the photos.
